Yo-Yo Company Finds Sweet Spot in Seekonk [VIDEO]
International toy company, Yomega Corp., moved their Fall River offices to a Route 6 location.
Yomega Corp., an international leader in the yo-yo market, recently relocated its Fall River offices to a new building at 1950 Fall River Ave, right off the Route 6 drag. To celebrate the move, owners held a ribbon cutting ceremony and a product demo on the premises Thursday afternoon.
According to owners, Yomega wasn't rolled out overnight. The Amaral family started the business in 1983, recognizing yo-yos as a "cyclical" product that would remain current throughout generations.
"I bet your great-grandfather had a yo-yo," Alan Amaral said, co-president of the company.

Coining the phrase, "yo-yo with a brain," the company made a name by tapping into local and international markets. According to Co-President Todd Rywolt, sales in Japan and countries throughout Europe remain strong. Amazon.com traffics a large amount of business.
There have been transitions. When the company was originally founded, parts were manufactured in Fall River mills. In order to remain competitive, the company outsourced labor to China. After the shift, owners thought it was time to move the offices of the industrial town to a spot that was closer to the homes of the leadership and design staff.

Final design decisions are not made on the fly. Rywolt coaches his child's sports team in Barrington and often uses the young athletes as a test group.
"They'll tell you what's cool, what's not," Rywolt said, noting colors are changed frequently.
And to keep advanced players interested, higher-end models utilizing rubber parts and interior ball bearings are always in the process of reinvention.
"We keep it current," Rywolt said.
