Back Bay's Israeli Consulate 'On High Alert'
Tensions between Israel and Iran have put the Israeli consulate "on high alert" for possible threats.

It was only a few weeks ago that Israeli consulates around the world, including the local Israeli consulate whose offices are in Boston's Park Plaza Hotel, received suspicious envelopes containing a mysterious white powder. The envelopes had "anthrax" written on them, but turned out to contain flour.
However, even though that threat turned out to be benign, concerns about the safety of the Consulate are hardly over.
As the Boston Herald reports, "increased tensions between Israel and Iran has Boston police as well as the city’s Israeli consulate on high alert."

The article also adds, "Boston police said they were aware of the possible threat posed to the Back Bay offices of the Israeli government and were responding with extra patrols to that and other prominent Jewish locations in the city," and Boston Police Spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll clarifies that, "There is no specific threat locally," but they are nonetheless stepping up their patrols.
The tensions that the Herald, the Consulate, and the Boston Police are referring to are the result of increased U.S. sanctions on Iran, Iran's insistence on building it's own nuclear program, and Israel's statements that it may be considering an attack on Iran's nuclear program.
