Concerts in the Courtyard: Revolutionary Snake Ensemble

The award-winning Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, which performs in Mardi Gras-style costumes and masks, is an improvisational second-line brass band playing a unique blend of original and traditional music. “A seasoned collection of horn and percussion players, the group puts a funky spin on everything from Billy Idol to Ornette Coleman,” says the New Yorker.

Leader Ken Field is a longtime member of the modern music ensemble, Birdsongs of the Mesozoic. The group’s CD releases have been included in best-of-year lists in the Village Voice and many other publications.

Revolutionary Snake Ensemble has appeared at the Kennedy Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.  Presented in partnership with JazzBoston.
