El Visionario

"It could be an out of body, out of mind, heart opening experience for both the players and listeners."
—Rakalam Bob Moses

Ken Schaphorst conducts the NEC Jazz Orchestra in the music of composer, drummer, and percussionistRakalam Bob Moses, a member of the NEC jazz faculty since 1983.

The concert will focus on the music from three of Bob Moses' acclaimed Gramavision recordings, When Elephants Dream of Music (1982), Visit with the Great Spirit (1983), and 1994's Time Stood Still, in addition to more recent compositions. Several of the pieces will be receiving their first performance, and Moses advises that the music "promises to bust open any and all conventions and assumptions associated with big band jazz."
