Salon Louis by l'Académie

The French Cultural Center is thrilled to welcome Boston-based Baroque orchestra L’Académie for a concert featuring three renowned musicians. The concert will include pieces by Marin Marais, François Couperin and Joseph Bodin de Boismortier.

An accomplished Viola di Gamba player, Beilang Zhu won the Goldberg Young Artist Prize at the American Bach Soloists Academy in 2010 and will be the principal cellist of the Houston’s Mercury Baroque Orchestra for the season 2011-2012.

Originally from France, recorder player Héloise Degrugillier has performed with a range of ensembles, including the Boston Early Music Festival Opera, and was recently praised by the Boston Musical Intelligencer.

New York native, harpsichord player and co-founder of L’Académie, Leslie Kwan was the continuo player of Miami’s New World Symphony from 2005 to 2010. Her future projects include performances at venues around the world, including concerts in London, Brussels and Paris.

L’Académie is a Baroque orchestra specializing in music from 17th- and 18th-century France with an emphasis on lesser-known works and composers. Founded in Boston in early 2009, the organization provides opportunities to Boston-area musicians to collaborate and audiences to connect with compelling programs of early music.
