Victorian Back Bay: A Narrated Slideshow of Boston

Back Bay Residents: want to learn more about your neighborhood?  Test your knowledge of Back Bay's history and architecture and attend this dynamic, narrated slideshow presentation.

This event is free, open to the public, and co-sponsored by Boston By Foot and the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay.

See the city in a whole new way in this 50-minute narrated
slideshow by Boston By Foot, a nonprofit organization that provides guided walking tours of Boston. We'll go beneath the shopping centers and luxury hotels of the Back Bay to uncover how a "new Boston" was built on the site of a fetid wetland. We'll explore how this 35-year project was ultimately completed and why Boston's elite chose to flock to the new neighborhood, and how Boston's love affair with both France and England is reflected in this masterpiece of Victorian city planning.

The event will be followed by an informal gathering at the lower level of the Met Bar, at the corner of Newbury and Dartmouth.
