Fire at Kashmir Restaurant Caused $15K Worth of Damage
Firefighters responded at 2:40 Tuesday afternoon.
A fire at Kashmir restaurant Tuesday afternoon caused about $15,000 worth of damage to the roof of the 279 Newbury Street building, on the corner of Gloucester Street.
Firefighters responded at 2:40 p.m. The fire started in the duct work in restaurant's kitchen, and thick black smoke traveled up the duct work to the roof of the building, Fire Spokesman Steve MacDonald said. It was caused by a buildup of grease in the duct work.
There were no injuries and firefighters cleared the area by 5 p.m. They also called for a building inspector to respond, MacDonald said.
