Police Logs: Man Held Hostage and Attempted Robbery at Walgreens

Thu, March 31
- Police towed a motor vehicle from Commonwealth Ave. at 12:01 a.m.
- Police responded at 8 a.m. to a report of larceny, $200 and over, from a vehicle at 700 Boylston St.
- Police responded at 11:45 a.m. to a report of shoplifting, $50 to $199, from 786 Boylston St.
- Police responded at 1:30 p.m. to 92 Marlborough St. for a report of a robbery. The victim told police he was robbed by two people, who he knew only by face, after they smoked crack cocaine in his apartment. He said he was held hostage in his apartment for several hours, then taken to an ATM at the TD Bank on Clarendon and Boylston streets and ordered to withdraw cash. When he couldn't withdraw anymore, they punched him in the face and stole his wallet, according to the report. The victim later identified one of the suspects in a photo lineup.
- Joseph Banks, of 105 Hamilton St., Dorchester, was arrested at 8 p.m. and charged with trespassing at 360 Huntington Ave.

- Hasan Davis, of 66 Cedar St., Roxbury, was arrested at 1:43 a.m. and charged with operating without lawful authorization on Huntington Ave.
- Police towed a motor vehicle from 169 Marlborough St. at 10:30 a.m.
- Police investigated a person at 67 Newbury St. at 10:53 a.m.
- Police responded to a Newbury St. at 2:29 p.m. for a report of larceny, $200 and over, from a vehicle.
- Police responded at 8:36 p.m. to a report of a robbery in progress at 575 Commonwealth Ave. The victim told police he was approached by two men and one of them, who was wearing a black hoodie, asked him 'Have you ever been robbed?' He resonded 'No' and the suspect replied 'You have been now. Give me your money.' The victim gave them $40 from his wallet and both men fled down Commonwealth Ave. Police searched the area but didn't find anyone.
- Police responded to a report of shoplifting, $50 to $199, from 800 Boylston St. at 8:50 p.m.
- Police responded to a report of an assault and battery at 759 Boylston St. at 11 p.m.
- Police responded to 454 Beacon St. at 11:44 p.m. for a report of vandalism.

- Police responded to a report of an assault and battery at 835 Beacon St. at 1:07 a.m.
- Police responded to an attempted robbery at Walgreens on 841 Boylston St. at 10:35 a.m. The pharmacist on duty told police a white male in his early 20's handed her a handwritten note that said 'this is a robbery I have a gun,' and motioned to the front of his jacket as if he had a weapon. The pharmacist said she went to the back of the pharmacy to gather 'various small amounts of pills' for the suspect, but when she returned he was gone. The man is described as 5' 6", a medium build, and wearing a black fleece hat and black North Face jacket.
- Police responded to 660 Boylston St. at 12 p.m. for a report of larceny, $200 and over.
- Police responded to a report of an assualt and battery at 36 Fairfield St. at 3 p.m.
- Police responded to 270 Huntington Ave. at 4:15 p.m. for a report of threats to do bodily harm.
- Police responded at 5:30 p.m. to a report of a motor vehicle causing property damage on and leaving the scene on Beacon St.
- Police received a report of lost property at 369 Huntington Ave. at 6:54 p.m.

- Police responded at 12 a.m. to 317 Commonwealth Ave. for a report of larceny, $200 and over, from a vehicle.
- Police responded at 12:01 a.m. to 41 Berkeley St. for a report of larceny, $200 and over.
- Police responded at 7:18 a.m.to a breaking and entering, using force, at 40 Berkeley St.
- Police responded to 356 Marlborough St. at 12 p.m. for a report of threats to do bodily harm.
- Police investigated property on Newbury St. at 12:30 p.m.
- Police investigated property at 10 Huntington Ave. at 3 p.m.
- Police responded to 334 Massachusetts Ave. at 3:46 p.m. for a report of vandalism.
