Police Nab Second iPhone Thief

Police on Friday arrested Christopher A. Chubbuck, 28 of Weymouth, and charged him unarmed robbery after allegedly snatching an iPhone out of a woman's hand. The incident occurred at Arlington St. and Public Alley 438.

Police also caught a Dorchester man on Thursday, after . In this case, police say he stole the phone from a woman as she was getting off the Copley T stop.

At about 1:19 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to Berkeley and St. James streets for a robbery in progress - with a description of a tall white male carrying a white purse. A witness told police he saw the suspect run past him, with a woman yelling and running after him, so he also gave chase. 

The witness lost him when he reversed directions and headed toward the South End, but a detail officer saw the suspect enter 140 Clarendon Street and took him into custody.

After the suspect was brought to the station, officers found the victim’s iPhone in the cruiser that had been used to transport him.
