Police Rescue Dog Left in Hot Car on Commonwealth Ave.

A white poodle mix was left with no windows down on Sunday.

A white poodle mix was panting heavily and taking short, rapid breaths on Sunday while inside a car with no windows down.

Residents of 348 Commonwealth Ave. called police at 12:45 p.m. after monitoring the dog and car, which was parked out front on the street. The car had a New Hampshire license plate.

The temperature outside was about 85 degrees and humid. Inside the car, Animal Inspector Daniel Gillis estimated it to be well over 100 degrees, according to the police report.

Police called a locksmith to open the car door and Gillis removed the dog. The vehicle was issued a parking violation and towed.
