A welding fire started in the window frame of a unit at the Beacon Towers.

Police and fire responded Friday at 3:48 p.m. to 483 Beacon Street for a small fire in the Beacon Towers, which is under renovations from a 9-alarm fire that tore through it last April 2010.
A welding fire started in the window frame of unit 17, and spread to unit 27 before firefighters put it out. The building, occupied mostly by contrators, was evacuated and no injuries were reported.
