2 Sets Of Cape Cod Osprey Chicks Get A New Home Together
One set of chicks was found in a chimney nest. They've now been moved to a nest on a Cape Cod go-kart track with two new siblings.
HARWICH, MA — There's a feel-good story brewing on Cape Cod right now about a new family being made.
The Harwich Fire Department helped two sets of osprey chicks find a new home this week, officials said.
Wild Care Cape Cod fostered the eggs after there were found in a chimney nest, but the osprey chicks needed a new nest with other chicks that were about the same age, fire officials said.

Bud's Go-Karts track on Sisson road has a nest in the middle of the track and the chicks in the nest appeared to be about the same age, they added.
According to Wild Care Cape Cod officials, the chicks are now nine and seven days old, and have been successfully placed into the nest. They now have "two attentive Osprey parents and 2 new siblings," Executive Director Stephanie Ellis said in a social media post.

Ospreys as a species are great for fostering, according to Ellis. They lay up to four eggs and can care for four chicks when food is present and accessible.
Additionally, this particular osprey mother has been nesting in the same spot for five years.
