2nd Man Convicted In Drug-Related Murder On Cape Cod

BARNSTABLE, MA — Jurors here on Wednesday convicted a second man for a first-degree murder that took place in East Falmouth during 2022.

Charee Rainey, 43, of Boston, begins a life sentence in prison Thursday for his role in the death of Douglas Rose, 41, according to Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois.

Rainey and Tishuan Miller, 44, of East Bridgewater, confronted Rose at his home on Davisville Road because they believed he had stolen drugs from a woman selling them on behalf of Rainey.

Rainey and Miller stabbed Rose repeatedly in the chest and back, then fled as he lay dying. Rainey traveled to Texas, but was arrested there a few days after the Sept. 22, 2022, murder, Galibois said in a statement.

Rainey pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and breaking and entering. He faced similar charges in an earlier trial, but that proceeding ended last summer when the jury could not reach a verdict.

Forensic evidence, including DNA, and site location data from the assailants’ phones corroborated witness testimony and helped achieve the conviction in Barnstable Superior Court, the statement said.

Miller was convicted of first-degree murder last November. Neither he nor Rainey will be eligible for parole.

Galibois said his “thoughts remain with Mr. Douglas Rose’s family, friends and loved ones.”
