Kid's Summer workshops at Cape Cod Art Association

Cape Cod Art Association’s popular summer program for
children returns! Enrollment in the workshops is limited, so register early to avoid disappointment. The following workshops are being offered at our facility in Barnstable Village:

Adventures in Art for Teens

Begins June 25 ~ Tuesdays, 6-8pm

Ages 12+

Love art class? Can't get enough? Join us for a weekly 2
hour class experimenting with different mediums. Each week we will use a different technique to create truly wonderful works of art! June 25 - pencil, pen
or charcoal; July 2 – pastels; July 9 - colored pencils; July 16 - acrylic paint; July 23 – watercolors; July 30 - water based oils. Materials will be provided, or bring your own if you wish. $25 per class or $150 for all six.

Photography for Teens & ‘Tweens

July 15-19, 10am-noon ~ Ages 13+

& July 22-26, 10am-noon ~ Ages 9-13

Let us inspire your budding photographer! Includes in-studio activities where students will learn the
basics, as well as on location shoots – harbor, wildlife sanctuary, main street, and more. The final day will be back in-studio, printing your photos. Bring your own camera, or your may use one of ours. 5-day workshop = $125

Watercolor Seascapes

July 17 & 18, 10am-noon

Ages 8-12

Beginning with a simple drawing and then step by step guidance, students will apply layers of watercolor and detail for a complete seascape with boat and seagulls, worthy of being framed and displayed! 2-day workshop = $50, includes materials.

T-Shirt Art Creations 

July 23-25, 10am-noon
Ages 8-12

Choose from several whimsical, nautical designs, and then draw and paint on your t-shirt, creating an underwater illusion. Join us for this fun class, and afterward, wear your finished art work proudly! Bring a t-shirt to class, all
other materials included. 3-day workshop = $75

“Funimals” with Colored Pencils
July 30-August 1, 10am-noon

Ages 6-10

Picking a whimsical character designed by their instructor, students will color and detail  their “funimal,” using their imagination. Join us for this fun and creative art journey!
3-day workshop = $75, includes materials.

Fairy Houses & Gnome Homes 

August 6-8, 10am-noon & August 13-15, 1-3pm

Ages 6-10

Could you build a home beautiful and cozy enough to lure a magical spirit in for a visit? Join us as we use a
variety of clay and natural materials to design and furnish a welcoming abode for our favorite weefolk! 3-day workshop = $75, includes materials.

Adventures in Cartooning

August 6-8, 1-3pm

Ages 6-10

Design your own comic characters and
send them off on crazy adventures in this action-packed class! Young cartoonists learn all about comic strip design and how to use devices like storyboards, captions, and frames to illustrate their hilarious stories. Each student will receive a printed copy of the class’ comic book to take home. 3-day workshop = $75 (includes materials).

Pirates Booty

August 13-15, 10am-noon

Ages 6-10

Ahoy, mateys! Aye, have we got a class for you. Join
instructor Sarah Ahrens as we unearth hidden treasure  on the sandy shores of the Art Association! After digging up our ancient finds, we will build miniature treasure chests for them, using clay, golden embellishments and
gemstones. Young pirates investigate neat painting techniques for “antiquated” special effects in creating mystical treasure maps, inscribed with secret
symbols. 3-day workshop = $75 (includes materials).

Clowning Around: Acrylic Portraits

August 20-22, 10am-noon

Ages 6-10

Create a colorful masterpiece of a clown in full circus make-up and accessories! Instructor will guide students
using Barnum & Bailey clown visual aids for first sketching onto canvas and then painting with acrylic paints. 3-day
workshop = $75 (includes materials).
