Steamship Authority Launches $50 Round-Trip Hyannis/Nantucket Fare

With the return of the high-speed ferry, Iyanough, which starts its 2012 service today, the Steamship Authority announces the launch of a new fifty-dollar fare to Nantucket. Starting April 24th, passengers can travel round-trip Hyannis to Nantucket on the same day for only $50 Monday through Thursday ($25 for children 5-12 years old).

“We are pleased to offer a special round trip fare from the mainland on our high-speed ferry for those customers who have some flexibility with their schedule to travel during the week instead of on the weekends when we are generally busier,” said Wayne Lamson, General Manager of the Steamship Authority. “With high gas prices expected to continue this summer, we hope this offers an affordable day trip to Nantucket for both visitors and residents on the Cape.”

The new fare represents a $17 savings for adult travelers and $14 savings for children, and will be in place through the end of the year.

“If advance reservations are an indication of what to expect this summer, we’re preparing for a very busy season,” said Lamson. “Our vehicle reservations for this summer are currently running about 6% higher compared to this time last year.”

Providing ferry service from Woods Hole to Martha’s Vineyard and Hyannis to Nantucket, all Steamship Authority vessels have on-board snack bars, free Wi-Fi and are handicapped accessible. Parking is available with free shuttle service to the terminals. For reservations or more information, visit SteamshipAuthority.com or call 508-477-8600.
