Crosswalks, Other Foot-Traffic Help Coming To Barnstable Community of Osterville
The town has budgeted $685,000 for the upgrades, and construction could begin this fall. A public meeting on the project is planned soon.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Changes are coming to a patch of the Barnstable village of Osterville.
The town is planning to build raised crosswalks along Main Street and make other improvements for pedestrian access, according to a notice. The public can learn more about the project at a meeting on Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m., in the Osterville Village Library, 43 Wianno Ave.
Four raised crosswalks are planned along Main Street, and construction would take place from the fall through next spring.

A town spokesperson told Patch the crosswalks are planned at:
- 886/891 Main St. (a short distance north of Bay Street)
- 839/846 Main St. (at the Osterville Mercantile store)
- 752/753 Main St. (a short distance east of West Bay Road)
- 675 Main St./8 East Bay Road (a short distance west of East Bay Road).
In addition, flat crosswalks are planned at 812 Main St./4 Wianno Ave., on the east side of the intersection of the two roadways, and at 716/727 Main St.

The town says it will include "decorative elements" at all the crossings.
Barnstable has already budgeted $685,000 for this project, according to the town.
