Barnstable Beach Closed To Cars Due To Nesting Shore Birds

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Barnstable beach was closed to cars due to nesting shore birds.

Eugenia Fortes Beach was closed to vehicular traffic as of Wednesday.

"No vehicles are to be driven on the beach to launch vessels," the town of Barnstable announced in a social media post.

"This closure will be temporary in nature and is due to endangered nesting shore birds in the area," the post said. "Vehicle access will be restored as soon as possible.

The town invited those with questions about the closure to call Marine and Environmental Affairs at 508-790-6272.
