Barnstable Coronavirus: Some Town Buildings Close

See what town buildings have been closed to mitigate the spread of the new coronavirus.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Town officials have closed several town buildings to prevent and mitigate the spread of the new coronavirius.

The following facilities have been closed:

  • Barnstable Adult Community Center
  • The West Barnstable Community Center
  • The Centerville Community Center
  • The Osterville Recreational Building
  • The Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC)(for recreational activities)
  • The Burgess House and Barn
  • The Paine Black House
  • Guyer Art Barn
  • The Gallery on 50 Pearl Street
  • All Artist Shanties

Town officials have also indefinitely delayed the opening of beach bath houses, The Bismore Visitor Center, the Old Selectmen's Building and the town’s comfort stations.

Barnstable Golf Courses will be available for members only and walking only. Tee times are mandatory. The public cannot go inside the golf shop. Members can be checked in without coming indoors. Golfers will be instructed on how to play "touch free" golf: leave the flagstick in, no use of bunker rakes, etc. Clubhouses will be closed.

The town also launched a online new resource (www.barnstablehealth.com) to to inform resident of the latest updates on reducing the spread of COVID-19 and the working of Barnstable town government.
