Gannon was fatally shot as he, his K-9 Nero and six other officers tried to arrest "career criminal" Thomas Latanowich on Blueberry Lane in Marstons Mills. Police say Latanowich hit in the insulation in the attic and shot Gannon and Nero after Gannon removed the insulation.
Latanowich had over 100 charges at the time of the killing. He was indicted last year on multiple charges, including murder and mistreating a police dog.
