The corrections officer was already on leave and will be arraigned this week. Officials have moved to revoke his license to carry a firearm.
CAPE COD, MA — A Deputy Corrections Officer with the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office now officially faces charges relating to assault allegations against an inmate that previously led to him being placed on leave.
Gregory Djaoen, 38, of New Bedford, Mass., was arrested recently and charged with assault, two charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and intimidation of a witness. He will be arraigned on Monday.
The charges stem from his role relating to the allegations of assaults on an inmate at the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department between May 25 and 26.

The Sheriff's Office released a statement over the weekend, stating that the allegations "stand in stark contrast to the faithful service of the good men and women who so honorably represent the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office every day."
If proven true, the office said, Sheriff Donna Buckley will "have zero tolerance for such serious violations of the law."
