Barnstable COVID-19 Rates Drop, But Remain Above Most Of State

Barnstable's positive test rate fell from 9.48 percent to 7.19 percent. As of Thursday, the positive test rate statewide was 2.21 percent.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable's coronavirus metrics continued their sharp decline, though numbers still remain well above the state average, according to data the Massachusetts Department of Public Health released Thursday.

The town's positive test rate fell from 9.48 percent to 7.19 percent. As of Thursday, the positive test rate statewide was 2.21 percent.

The town had 153 cases in the last two weeks, or 24.4 daily cases per 100,000 residents. That's down from last week's rate of 38.6.

The state also reported that Barnstable has 82.6 percent of its residents fully vaccinated. More than 43 percent of Barnstable residents have gotten the booster.
