BARNSTABLE, MA — The Barnstable Fire Department's fire and rescue boat has been busy over the past two weeks, completing multiple water reduces and responding to four total marine incidents.

On Thursday, officials responded to a reported kayak floating offshore between the beach off Sunset Lane and the Sandy Neck Lighthouse. The person who reported the kayak didn't know if anyone was in the water, officials said.

Officials said the kayak, once rescue officials made it out to it, appeared to have old damage and wasn't in use at the time. No victims were found in the water or on the shoreline.
