Barnstable Hosts Coastal Resiliency Meeting For Sandy Neck Beach

The public and officials will review alternatives for long-term coastal resiliency at the Sandy Neck Public Beach Facility, officials said.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable officials will host a public information meeting regarding coastal resiliency alternatives at the Sandy Neck Public Beach Facility in January 2023.

Town officials will host two meetings, one virtual and one in-person.

The in-person meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10, Barnstable County Complex, Harborview Conference Room, 3195 Main St., starting at 6 p.m.

The virtual session will be hosted via Zoon starting at 6 p.m. on Jan. 12. For the link, click here.

According to a proposal from CLE Engineering, Inc., the goal of the project is to "explore various conceptual long-term alternatives that will continue to support current on-site access and address the severe erosion and primary dune loss that has occurred at the Sandy Neck Public Beach."

The project goals state that the alternatives should be sustainable for at least 50 years, economically viable, permissible under current environmental regulations and supports current parking capacity and public usage.
