Barnstable, Hyannis Veterans Day 2022: Ceremonies, JFK Museum

Ceremonies are scheduled in both Barnstable and Hyannis on Friday, and veterans get in free at the JFK Hyannis Museum.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Veterans Day is Friday, and there are multiple ways to celebrate America's service members past and present in Barnstable and Hyannis.

Ceremonies

Ceremonies are scheduled at the Hyannis Village Green from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., and Barnstable Town Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Both events will be held on Nov. 11.

This is the fifth edition of the annual Veterans Day ceremony at Barnstable Town Hall.

Veterans Day Walk

A Veterans Day walk, hosted by Paul Chesbro and Cyndy Cotton, is scheduled for 11 a.m. The Walk starts at Osterville Village Library, and those who join should meet at the Gazebo, as the library will be closed that day.

"Enjoy a casual walk through the village as we pay tribute to our veterans and visit their monuments. Bring your stories to share," officials said.

Steamship Authority

The Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority is offering free travel for veterans on Friday.

Active duty, military veterans, and retired military veterans who have a valid military ID showing their active duty, honorable discharge or retired status can travel as a passenger for free on all Steamship Authority ferries, including traditional ferries and the Nantucket high-speed ferry.

JFK Hyannis Museum

U.S. military veterans, as well as active duty members, can get in free at the JFK Hyannis Museum on Friday, museum officials announced.
