Barnstable Land Trust Tabs New Board President

Leigh Townes will take the reins of the Land Trust, while the organization also named a new board clerk and board member.

BARNSTABLE, MA — The Barnstable Land Trust will be led by a new board president after the organization's recent meeting.

Leigh Townes was named to the role during the organizations annual meeting in July, while Justine Laugharn was named board clerk. Tobey Collins was also welcomed as a board member.

"We are grateful to have Leigh at the helm as Board President, especially as we look forward to celebrating the opening of the new barn at our Fuller Farm property later this fall, in which Leigh played an important role," said Janet Milkman, Barnstable Land Trust’s Executive Director, in a post on their site.

“As Barnstable Land Trust prepares to celebrate its 40th Anniversary next year, passionate and dedicated volunteer leaders like Leigh, Justine, Tobey, are essential to our organization’s success in protecting and preserving our community’s most special and important natural resources.”

A Cotuit resident, Townes has been a BLT member since 2017, most recently serving as the Board Clerk and Chair of the Land Stewardship Committee.
