Barnstable Police Investigating Stolen Cars, Car Break-Ins

A reported single-car accident quickly became an investigation into two stolen vehicles. Now, police seek public assistance.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A reported single-vehicle accident led Barnstable police to investigate two stolen cars and even more car break-ins. Now, police are looking for public assistance.

Early on Jan. 14, the Barnstable Police Midnight Shift responded to the reported accident on on Route 149 in Marstons Mills near the Cape Cod Airfield.

"This accident investigation quickly developed into two reports of stolen motor vehicles and numerous reports for motor vehicle breaking and entering offenses in the areas of Pleasant Pines Avenue Centerville and Willimantic Drive Marstons Mills," police said.

Police are now asking residents in the area to review any security camera footage they have between midnight and 4 a.m. on that night.

"These incidents appear to be isolated to this small window of time, however we are reminding everyone to remove your valuables from your vehicles and make sure your vehicles are locked," police said.
