Barnstable Schools' Five-Year Staff Reduction

Along with budget cuts, the staff has been reduced 14 percent across Barnstable Schools.

At the special Barnstable School Committee meeting on Tuesday about the budget, Superintendent Patricia Grenier talked about the staff reductions made during the last five years.

Although Barnstable is run on a people based system, she hopes it will become a position based school where, for accounting purposes, each position will be assigned a number in an effort to help make reporting (on staff and budgetary) easier.

The number of positions shed is a result of budget cuts and attrition as the student population deflates with people moving off-Cape and a shift to an older population.
