Barnstable Sewer Expansion Starting Soon, Road Closures Possible
Craigville Beach Road, Strawberry Hill Road, Wequaquet Lane and Phinney's Lane will be affected by the construction.
BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable's sewer system will soon expand after the completion of the Strawberry Hill Road project.
The Department of Public Works said construction on the new gravity sewer will begin Sept. 20. It will be installed on portions of Craigville Beach Road, Strawberry Hill Road, Wequaquet Lane and Phinney's Lane. A new submersible pump station will also be installed at the intersection of Strawberry Hill Road and Craigville Beach Road.
Town officials said Vineyard Wind will install a duct bank and associated utility in the same area as part of its offshore wind energy project. Streets affected by the project will be resurfaced by Vineyard Wind after completion of both projects.
