Barnstable Sheriff's Youth Academy Program Returns For 2023

The four-week program is aimed at helping kids develop social skills and resiliency, officials said. Here's what to know.

CAPE COD, MA — The Barnstable County Sheriff's Office Youth Academy Program will return in 2023.

The academy is set to be held from July 5 to July 27 at Cape Cod Community College, officials announced.

“I am excited for the BCSO to partner with the Cape Cod Chamber this summer to offer this exceptional program to our county’s youth,” said Sheriff Buckley. “The Chamber’s engagement this year has been crucial to getting the Academy off the ground.”

“We’re thrilled to be making this investment in our community’s future," said Cape Cod Chamber CEO, Paul Niedzwiecki.

During the four-week program, kids aged 12 to 16 will work with staff from the BCSO to develop pro-social skills and increased resiliency, officials said.

In collaboration with local community partners, specially trained staff from the Sheriff’s office will help kids to achieve important physical, emotional, and intellectual development goals, they added.

All students must submit a completed Youth Academy application to the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office for acceptance into the program.
