Barnstable Superintendent Interviews to Start

The search committee is impressed with the field of candidates.

The Barnstable superintendent search committee is very excited about the pool of applicants it's reviewed and has narrowed the field to seven candidates who will begin interviewing on Monday.

The committee reviewed about 15 full applicants and picked seven who will interview at the Cape Cod Collaborative Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the coming week.

After next week's interviews, three or four names will be put forward as finalists to the board.

Finalists will interview one-on-one with selected committee members and do walk-throughs.

Committee members reveled in the "fantastic candidates" it attracted, something it attributed to the executive search center and the current administrations hard work.

The candidates were described as a "highly qualified, elite group" by committee member Margeaux Weber. She said, "it says something about the state of the district, that people of that quality would want o come here to work."

Barnstable School Committee Chair Patrick Murphy said the interview process is mutual and it feels it has a great opportunity to offer applicants. Ideally, Murphy would like to see the finalists begging for the job, but it is a mutual interview.

"Were going to be putting our best on and hoping we get the best," Murphy said.
