Bites Nearby: The Naked Oyster Bistro & Raw Bar

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Barnstable-Hyannis Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Overview: The Naked Oyster moved to Main Street from Independence Drive almost a year ago, but the change in location did nothing to change the quality food and service that the restaurant has become known for since opening its doors.

Owners Florence and David Lowell pride themselves on using local produce and seafood whenever possible and even have an Oyster Farm of their own in Barnstable Harbor. The Naked Oyster is open for lunch and dinner, and is also available for catering private events.

Decor: When you walk into the Naked Oyster you feel as though you are in an urban setting. The decor is locally crafted, while still upscale and chic.

The Drinks: In addition to the local craft beers, The Naked Oyster has a large selection of spirits, martinis and an extensive wine list with many available by the glass or bottle.

Appetizers: Grilled Thai Shrimp in a spicy peanut sauce with braised bok choy and ginger ($14). Cheese Platter that includes Marion Hill Blue Cheese, Vermont Goat Cheese, Vermont Cheddar & Gruyere served with fresh fruits and homemade apple and fig jam ($15). Baked Clams Casino ($12), Beef Carpaccio ($12), and a Chilled Seafood Tower ($43) are also options.

Entrees:
For lunch The Naked Oyster has sandwiches and flat breads, as well as a variety of beef & seafood. Their dinner entrees include: Asian salmon served on a lo mein noodle stir fry of Asian vegetables ($28); seafood paella with chicken and chorizo simmered in a house made fish tea, tossed in vegetables and saffron risotto ($28); braised shortribs of Beef served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables ($26); haddock and lobster in a champagne white butter ($33); oven poached salmon served with roasted tomato, steamed yukon gold potatoes, sauteed spinach and a black olive tapenade ($27); and grilled chicken and penne in a pesto cream sauce ($24).

Sides:
Select daily vegetables, grilled asparagus, parmasean risotto, and mashed potato with blue cheese compound butter. All sides are $8.00.
