Drunk Hyannis Man Crashes Trying to Outrun Cruiser, Police Say

A drunk Hyannis man crashed trying to outrun a police cruiser in Massachusetts over the weekend.

Bevan Waman, 36, was charged with a host of crimes.

Police said on Saturday at about 6 p.m., a citizen in Norwood called police, saying Waman illegally passed his vehicle. The citizen said he saw Waman drinking alcohol while driving.

A police cruiser pulled up behind Waman, who sped off against oncoming traffic, police said. Waman then crashed on Chapel Street and ran out of his vehicle but was subdued by two officers, police said.

Waman was charged with OUI (liquor), negligent driving, and driving with a revoked license.
