Cape Cod Academy Hosts Youth Sports Advocate Talk

Youth Sports Advocate Bob Bigelow will give a talk his book "Just Let the Kids Play" on making sports fun for kids at Cape Cod Academy.

The Cape Cod Academy Parents Association presents youth sports advocate Bob Bigelow on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 pm in the Cape Cod Academy lower school gymnasium.

Mr. Bigelow’s book “Just Let the Kids Play” has been instrumental in getting adults around the country to reflect on how they make youth sports fun for children. He is one of the foremost youth sports speakers in the country, advocating to “fully meet the needs of children” as the top priority in youth sports programs and providing new approaches for positive change in youth sports.

Mr. Bigelow is a former professional basketball first round draft choice and played four years for the Kansas City Kings, Boston Celtics, and San Diego Clippers. He played collegiately at the University of Pennsylvania, for Hall of Fame Coach Chuck Daly. He has devoted several thousand hours researching and lecturing about organized youth sports and its effects on children - and adults.

Since 1993, Bigelow has conducted over 2500 talks and clinics worldwide. Mr. Bigelow has also been selected as one of the “100 Most Influential Sports Educators” by the Institute for International Sport at the University of Rhode Island.
