Cape Cod Bluefins Hammer Delaware Federals

The Bluefins outscored the Federals 12-1.

Similar to their previous matchup against the Delaware Federals and this time playing without their leading scorer Billy Tibbetts (Healthy Scratch), the Bluefins of Cape Cod came out strong against an inexperienced Federal League squad and again lit up the scoreboard to the tune of 12 to 1. It was the Fins second straight victory after dropping seven straight.

Corey Bellamy paced the Bluefin attack with three goals and an assist and goalie Chris Testa made 20 saves to record his fifth win of the season. It was Bellamy’s first hat trick of his young professional career.

The game featured several big hits and many odd man rushes. The Fins scored 4 goals in the first period , 6 in the second and 2 in the third. The Federals managed to score their only goal of the game at the 13:21 mark of the second period when Mike Guerra beat Testa with a nice wrist shot off of a Kyle Granville rebound. The goalies for the Federals, Mike DiLorenzo and Brent Troyan, despite letting in the 12 goals made many great saves in a valiant effort.

“The boys came out hungry and it’s nice to have won two in a row but tomorrow will be a different team in Akwesasne. We better be ready” said Bluefins coach Mike Nugnes.

The Bluefins play again tonight at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center against the FHL’s leading scorer Pierre Dagenais and the high flying Akwesasne Warriors. Game time is at 7:05 pm and all are encouraged to come out and support the community and the Bluefins. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for Students & Senior Citizens. Also, as part of the Bluefins ongoing commitment to youth hockey, all youth hockey players who wear their game jerseys will receive free admission.
