Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance Gets $500K In State Funding

CAPE COD, MA — The Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance will get an extra boost in funding this week.

On Wednesday, Massachusetts Rep. Dylan Fernandes is scheduled to present $500,000 in funding to the Alliance at a Chatham event.

The $500,000 was earmarked for the Alliance in the state's Fiscal Year 2024 budget and will be given to the group "for the modernization and maintenance of sustainable fishing," according to the budget.

Organization officials maintain a big role in representing Cape Cod fishermen across the industry.

Fishermen’s Alliance staff have continuously held a seat for 19 years on the New England Fishery Management Council, 21 years on the Massachusetts Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission and eight years on the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, according to the organization.
