Cape Cod Home Suspended Over Ocean On The Move After Blizzard

Residents watched anxiously during the weekend blizzard, wondering if the house would survive. The house somehow withstood the storm.

The former U.S. Coast Guard building at 133 South Pamet Road has been suspended by stilts, since the ocean washed away its foundation. The house has been on Ballston Beach since 1850.

TRURO, MA — A Cape Cod oceanfront home on the edge of collapse is moving to a more stable location temporarily, according to town officials.

"The Town has coordinated with the owner on a Conservation Commission Emergency Work Order permit to move the home to a temporary location," town officials said in a news release Wednesday. "The home cannot be occupied at the temporary location, and any proposed permanent location must conform to the Zoning Bylaw with any necessary approvals required the Zoning Board of Appeals."

Town officials closed the Ballston Beach parking lot through Friday to allow crews to move the house.
