Cape Cod Man Pleads Not Guilty In Winter Street Shooting
A Hyannis man is accused of shooting his roommate, who is now in stable condition. He will be held without bail as his case progresses.
HYANNIS, MA — The man accused of shooting his roommate in a Winter Street apartment pleaded not guilty to the charges against his and said he only shot the man in self-defense.
Paulo Farias, 26, pleaded not guilty to charges including assault with intent to murder and other firearms charges at a Monday arraignment.
According to a report, Farias said that his roommate — who has not been named but is reportedly in stable condition — exposed himself to Farias' wife on a number of occasions. The couple live in the apartment with two kids in addition to the roommate.

Farias Turned Himself In
The attorney representing Farias said the fact that he turned himself in should give credence to the idea that he is telling the truth.
Farias turned himself in at the Plymouth police station through a phone call from the Barnstable Police Department.
On Friday around 8:30 p.m., Paulo Farias, 26, of Hyannis, entered the lobby of Plymouth Police headquarters where he took off his shirt, kneeled on the ground, put his hands above his head and was holding his phone, officials said.
When Lieutenant George Driscoll and Officer Kyle Kreitzer approached, they could hear a man on the phone, identifying himself as a Barnstable police detective telling them that Farias had "just shot someone, was wanted for attempted murder, and to put him into custody," police said.
He was arrested without incident and turned over to Barnstable police
