Cape Cod Resident Loses $109K In Computer Virus Scheme
Two men face conspiracy charges after demanding money from a Yarmouth resident to remove unwanted items from her computer, police said.
YARMOUTH, MA — Two New Jersey men face charges after Yarmouth police said they stole over $100,000 from a 78-year-old Cape Cod resident.
On Monday at approximately 6:05 p.m., Yarmouth Police Detectives arrested Nikit S. Yadav, 22, and Raj Vipul Patel, 21, both of Parsippany.
Patel and Yadav were involved in a computer virus scheme and demanded funds from a Yarmouth resident to remove unwanted items from her computer, police said.

The scam started on March 24 when the victim called a tech support number to assist with an issue with her computer, officials said.
Patel and Yadav were arrested after they returned to the victim’s residence on Monday evening to collect money from her.

Both are charged with conspiracy and larceny over $1200 by false pretenses. They were held overnight at the Yarmouth Police Department and transferred to court for arraignment, police said on Wednesday.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
