Cape Cod Woman Pleads Not Guilty In June Stabbing
The woman said her ex-boyfriend threatened her, and the relationship had a history of abuse. She was indicted on a murder charge last week.
BARNSTABLE, MA — The Cape Cod woman charged with murder in the stabbing of her ex-boyfriend in June said their relationship had a history of abuse, and she was threatened on the night of his death.
Juscelene Guedes was indicted on charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon last week in the June death of Renato Chaves, 33. Guedes had a court date scheduled for December and is being held without bail.
An arraignment report revealed that Guedes told police that her and Chaves had a history of "domestic incidents" in their relationship, including the night of the stabbing.

Guedes said Chaves came to her apartment where he eventually pulled out a knife and kicked her before she took the knife from him and stabbed him, the report said.
In June, Barnstable Police received a 911 reporting a crash in the area of TD Bank, 226 Falmouth Rd., in Hyannis.

One of the occupants of the vehicle had an apparent stab wound to his chest, the Cape and Island's District Attorney's Office said. The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in critical condition where, at 8:36 p.m., it was determined he was no longer viable for resuscitation.
Guedes was in the same vehicle at the time of the crash and was arrested at the scene.
