BARNSTABLE, MA — A Barnstable comedian set a goal to hit a golf ball in all 50 states in just 30 days and had documented his journey on TikTok. But teeing off in one state apparently opened a federal investigation.

Jake Adams is now facing charges after he hit a golf ball in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. He is accused of violating federal regulations intended to preserve the park. He faces a potential six-month prison sentence and a $5,000 fine, CBS Boston reported.

Adams said he used biodegradable balls at Yellowstone and every other state he golfed in on the journey. But Adams on TikTok admitted he didn't take the right precautions and wants his followers to consider their environmental footprint.

"It was never my intent to disrupt the environment," Adams said in a TikTok video. "I just never realized the magnitude of hitting a golf ball in any of our national parks, so please if I can do anything on this platform, I'd just encourage everyone to not do what I did. I now realize the importance of what footprint we're leaving on earth."
