Cape Cod Man Guilty In Fatal 2019 Hyannis Stabbing
A jury returned guilty verdicts against Nicholas Galanto for charges including second-degree murder. He received a life sentence.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A man was sentenced to life in prison for a 2019 murder on Cape Cod, the Cape and Islands District attorney announced this week.
The jury returned guilty verdicts against Nicholas Galanto, 36, relating to the May 19, 2019, homicide of Brenden Flynn, 28 at the time, and the physical attack on another man in Barnstable.
Galanto was convicted of second-degree murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon.

He was sentenced on Wednesday to between four and four-and-a-half years for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on the second male victim.
Additionally, the court sentenced Galanto to life in prison. He won't be eligible for parole until he has served 20 years of his murder sentence.

Barnstable Police received a 911 call reporting a stabbing that happened at the Village Green Park in Hyannis on that night.
It was reported that there had been an altercation between Galanto and Flynn that resulted in a stabbing. Flynn was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Upon further investigation, it was reported that another adult male was present at the time of the stabbing. That second male victim said Galanto swung a knife at him and Flynn.
The second man was able to defend himself and gave first aid to Flynn.
