CMMC believes that creating an immersive experience for the Fresh Air Children is consistent with the Fresh Air mission to establish a cultural exchange and fun summer experience for all. We accomplished this goal through exposure to the globally and historically changing wireless technology and a tour through our museum with our experienced docents, according to CMMC’s Director of Operations, Dorothy Bassett.
“The children were exposed to the many exhibits such as history of the station, shark tagging, ship tracking, a drone simulator, the life of Marconi, and many others. It was wonderful to see the children and families interact with the artifacts, excitedly learn how to write their names in Morse code and learn about the future of wireless technology and important parts of the Cape's local history,” Bassett added

Bassett noted, “Some of these children have never been in a museum before, and it is a special moment to watch the kids connect with the history and future of wireless technology, and we strive for that connection as part of CMMC's mission.”
With the extra funds that the board raised, CMMC will be able to offer four scholarships to Fresh Air children and their host family siblings, to attend our Saturday Secret Codebreaking workshops. Special thanks to Orleans photographer Kim Reilly’s Studio K for volunteering her time, to Nikki Waite-Good Times Ice Cream for the sponsored ice-cream truck, to Fresh Air Local Chairperson Debra Burns for organizing, and to the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center's Board of Directors and Dorothy Bassett for sponsoring the event.
