Clark's BHS News: 500 Raced for Houston, Grants and Drama

News from Barnstable High School Principal Patrick Clark.

  • On Saturday, November 5th, Barnstable High School hosted the Navy Seal Kevin Houston Memorial Road Race. Many thanks to the over 500 volunteers and participants that made this event such a success.  This weekend, there will be a special celebration to honor Kevin Houston's life and service to our country. All are invited to attend on Saturday, Nov.12 at 1 pm at Barnstable High School.
  • Seven students received National Merit Commendations this year.  They are:  Emma Boudreau, Shannon Cleary, Seth Etienne, Alexandra Malakhoff, Shayne McKenna, Jasmine Opie, Luke Starr
  • There were 124 seniors who qualified for the Abigail Adams Scholarship.
  • The Color Guard of the Barnstable High School Marching Band placed Second at the Massachusetts State Marching Band Championships on October 23, 2011 at UMASS Lowell.
  • The following students had photography chosen for display at the New England Scholastic Art Exhibition on display at the Boston Transportation Building. The are:  Aiyanna Davis,  Lauren Fogle, Alicia Gorin, Kenneth Hildebrand and Nicole Neville
  • Six Barnstable High School educators received Barnstable Education Foundation Grants.  These grants showcase innovative curriculum and programming in:  science, Technology, Recycling, Wellness, Chinese Culture and Literature Exploration.
  • The BHS Art Department is proud to present artist Bao Lede from West Barnstable.  Mr. Bao's paintings represent emotion, energy and expression of spirit.  His technique is a mixture of inks and oil paints rendered in deep Chinese traditions.  Please take a moment to enjoy the gentle, yet powerful paintings of Mr. Bao through Nov. 31st in the BHS Art Gallery located in the main lobby.
  • The BHS Drama Club presents the beloved holiday classic, It's a Wonderful Life: the Live Radio Play in the Knight Hall opening Wednesday, November 9th.  This unique performance takes the movie we all love and presents it as an old-time radio show complete with live sound effects and live music right on stage.  So come back to December 24, 1946 with us and experience this classic piece done in a completely original way.  And if you want to have even more fun, come to the show in your best 1940s outfit!  All general admission tickets are $10; call 508-771-6246 for reservations.  Show Dates & Times: November 9 @ 7pm; November 10 @7pmNovember 12 @ 7pmNovember 13 @ 2pmNovember 17 @ 7pmNovember 18 @ 7pmNovember 19 @ 2pmNovember 19 @ 7pm
