Convicted Sex Offender Taken Into ICE Custody On Cape Cod
Deportation officials said the man entered the U.S. from Jamaica in 2017 and has been living in the country illegally since 2018.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A Jamaican man living on Cape Cod was recently taken into custody by Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston, who said he was a convicted sex offender and a "significant threat" to residents.
Officials arrested the "unlawfully present" 30-year-old on Feb. 12 in Barnstable. They said he was convicted of two counts of indecent assault and battery of a person over the age of 14 in November 2023.
The man entered the United States in May 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina, on a nonimmigrant visa that permitted him to remain in the U.S. until April 11, 2018. He failed to leave by that date, officials said.
