D-Y Dolphins Gain Revenge Over Red Raiders

Thus, in this afternoon's 8-7 road victory for the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins it was the green & white, not the red & white, who rose victoriously with clutch hitting and in the end, better defensive play.
A pair of what looked like sure-fire basehits by Barnstable in the bottom of the seventh inning, with the tying run aboard, turned instead into web gems for the visitors as D-Y senior second sacker Cody Sullivan robbed sophomore Derek Estes of a basehit up the middle and senior catcher Denny Beynor's line drive was snared with precision.

D-Y's Spencer McCaffrey got the victory in relief of Matt Peterson, while George Bent, in his second-ever varsity relief appearance, took the hard-luck loss. Barnstable senior starter Willie Nastasi (4-0) got the no-decision after leaving the game with a 6-0 deficit in four innings of work, leaving Bent to take on the final three frames. Nastasi allowed six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four batters. Bent struck out two batters, walked two and gave up four hits to the hard-hitting D-Y nine.
Barnstable received hits from Ty Adams (1-4, 2B), Dylan Morris (1-3), Dan Walsh (1-3), Mark Brodd (1-4), Everett Walsh (1-2, 2 BBs, 2 runs), Denny Beynor (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI), Derek Estes (1-2, RBI), and Sam Holway (1-3).

D-Y's Liam Matheson continued his torrid pace at the plate, going 3-4 while McCaffrey collected a 2-RBI double in the 4th inning.
Wednesday, May 23, 2012: Barnstable senior righty Keegan Dellacona tossed a phenomenal, near perfect game to lead the Red Raiders to a 3-1 win on Wednesday over host Dartmouth. He went all nine innings, striking out 10, walking one and allowing just two hits in the bottom of the ninth. He threw 102 pitches in his fourth win of the season.
