Got Hips? Yoga Workshop w/ Amy Leydon

Healing Flow Stability and Mobility in the Hips and Pelvis Yoga is a practice that is designed for all to enjoy. You do not need to be super bendy or super strong to reap the rewards. The healing practice of yoga can help keep you feeling young, alive, and mobile for the rest of your life! When we take our ego out of the practice and use our practice to heal the mind and body, we see how this can benefit all bodies and all personality types. This workshop will focus on the pelvis or what we commonly refer to as our hips. Functionality of the hips is so important. Without it, we would not be able to walk! The hips are also situated around the first and second chakras. These chakras hold a lot of our emotional past. Physically releasing the hips can provide a strong emotional release as well. Through Amy's fluid, strong classes we will work with the body's natural movement to find the balance between stability and mobility. We will explore the "neutral" pelvis, release areas where we feel congested, and strengthen areas that might be weak. We will end the class with a restorative focus to calm the nervous system and find further release through the connective tissue in our bodies. This workshop will show you how a strong and supple practice can restore balance in the body and leave you feeling more mobile and pain free. With her signature free-flowing style of yoga, Amy’s class is the perfect balance between strength and surrender. She uses clear alignment cues mixed with moments of spontaneous movement to encourage students to follow her guidance but explore their own paths. She feels this combination of structure and experimentation is ultimately how we find our way in yoga and in life. Amy has been teaching in Boston for nearly 10 years. She was recently awarded Best Yoga Teacher in Boston by Boston Magazine.
