Holiday Recipe: Pain D’Avignon's Italian Almond Macaroon Recipe

Pain D'Avignon's pastry chef shares its Italian Almond Macaroons Drizzled in Amaretto Sauce recipe with Patch.

Italian Almond Macaroons - also known as Amaretti - are drizzled with Amaretto Dipping Sauce. They are crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft inside with flavors of almond and amaretto liqueur – and are delicious!

Almond Macaroon:

3 ½ ounces almond paste

3 ½ ounces granulated sugar

One egg white

½ cup slivered almonds

  1. In a mixer fitted with the paddle, cream almond paste and sugar until smooth.
  2. Add egg white and mix until smooth.
  3. With a small ice cream scoop, scoop macaroons onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
  4. Top each macaroon with almonds.
  5. Bake in a 350ºF oven until golden brown.

Amaretto Dipping Sauce

10 ounces heavy cream

6   ounces semi-sweet chocolate

3   ounces Amaretto liqueur

In a sauce pan bring cream to a boil. Remove cream stove top. Add chocolate and Amaretto to cream. Whip until smooth.
