Hyannis Breakfast, Lunch Café Back To Life After Pandemic Closure
The Sea Street Café will reopen with new dinner hours and some additions to the menu.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A popular Hyannis breakfast and lunch closed by the coronavirus pandemic is coming back to life.
The town's licensing commission on Monday unanimously agreed to renew The Sea Street Café's operating license.
"That that was a very successful restaurant," commission chair Martin Hoxie said. "It started out as Olive's in the 1950s."

New co-owner/manager Sivio Pieper said the café will also be open for dinner, with 7 to 10 p.m., being the restaurant's new hours.
"We're going to add a few things to the menu, but keep the same breakfast and lunch menu as is," Pieper told the commission.

Pieper said new menu additions will include some Italian options, seafood and a couple steak meals. He said he will work in January and February to try to get the restaurant open this spring. Pieper said he also plans to eventually apply for a beer and wine license.
David Colombo bought the Sea Street Café in 1997. It was a mainstay in Hyannis for 23 years until it closed amid the pandemic. Colombo also owns Colombo's Café on Main Street, as well as the Black Cat Tavern on Ocean Street. Though, the Black Cat Tavern is closed until March 18 because of the ongoing labor shortage.
