Hyannis House Party Murder Trial Slated For Fall
The man charged with fatally stabbing a 26-year-old man at a party in 2016 will stand trial later this year.

HYANNIS, MA – The murder trial for a Hyannis man charged in the stabbing death of a 26-year-old man at a house party in 2016 is scheduled to start this fall. Kelly Ridley, Jr. is expected to stand trial Oct. 24, two years after the fatal stabbing, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Ridley, 18 years old at the time of the stabbing, is charged with murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police say he and Thomas Russell, Jr., who the Times identified as a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, were attending a house party on Beth Lane the night of Oct. 22, 2016 when a fight broke out.
Ridley allegedly struck Russell with a metal scooter and stabbed him. He also allegedly stabbed another man, who survived.

The Plymouth County District Attorney's office will prosecute the case because the victim was a "close relative" of a person in the Cape & Islands District Attorney's office.
