Hyannis Killer's Murder Conviction Upheld By SJC
One of two men convicted of first-degree murder in connection with a 2012 killing in Hyannis challenged the evidence used to convict him.

HYANNIS, MA – One of two men found guilty of first-degree murder in connection with a 2012 killing in Hyannis will remain behind bars after the state Supreme Judicial Court upheld his murder conviction Friday. Steven Webster, of Dorchester, was sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Andrew Stanley.
Stanley was found dead in a home on Otis Road on July 11, 2012. He had been bound, beaten and shot, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Webster and Eddie Mack, Jr., of Roxbury, were convicted in 2016 of first-degree murder, armed assault and a dwelling, armed robbery and carrying a firearm without a license. Two other men, Hyannis resident Keiko Thomas and Quincy resident David Evans, were found guilty of manslaughter and other charges in connection with the killing.

But Webster challenged the evidence used to convict him, questioning the use of tire impressions and cell phone records to establish that he was at the scene of the murder. He also claimed he was entitled to a "consciousness of guilt" instruction from the judge.
